Hantuchova and Errani a surprising pair for the Pattaya Open final.

Top seed and defending champion Vera Zvonereva crashed out of the Pattaya Open as she was beaten in straight sets by Daniela Hantuchova in the semi-final. Zvonereva was on a 13-match winning streak at the Thai tournament having claimed the title in 2009 and 2010, but she missed out this time as Hantuchova prevailed 7-6 (7/3) 6-4 to book a final place against Sara Errani. Zvonereva was left to rue a host of missed first-set opportunities. She had six break-point chances but could convert only one, while Hantuchova made the most of her only break point as the set went into a tie-breaker. The Slovakian fourth seed prevailed, then claimed the only break of the second set to claim just her second win in six matches against the Russian. She will face Italian eighth seed Errani, who also caused an upset by beating compatriot Roberta Vinci 6-1 6-4.
