Serbia will face Argentina in the Davis Cup World Group semifinals.

Janko Tipsarevic sealed the tie for the defending champions by defeating Michael Ryderstedt 62 75 63 in the fourth rubber. Ryderstedt – undergoing his first Davis Cup experience this weekend – carried the pressure of keeping his nation alive in their quarterfinal tie against 2010 champions Serbia in Halmstad, after Sweden head into Sunday’s matches trailing 2-1. Ryderstedt, ranked No. 297, made his Davis Cup debut on Friday in the first rubber against Viktor Troicki and managed to push the world No. 16 to four sets before falling 63 61 67 75. At 2-0 down in the tie, Sweden’s Simon Aspelin and Robert Lindstedt managed to salvage some pride for the hosts, winning the doubles rubber in straight sets to extend the tie into a third day. Tipsarevic has now won the deciding point for Serbia for a sixth time, and had been the man to send the nation into the Final last year.

Serbia will host Argentina on 16-18 September. It will be its sixth home tie in its last eight Davis Cup ties.
