“It was really nice to see him there. Now we’re just happy, and that’s all that matters.”

Ana Ivanovic won her first round match today at the US Open but the surprise of the day came from her box. Her former boyfriend, Adam Scott was sitting there, supporting her like in the old times. The golfer competed at a US PGA tournament in New Jersey last week and is set to compete at the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston later this week. It looks like Ivanovic’s resurgence could have to do with a reconciliation with Scott. At the beginning of the year, the Serb told the (Sydney) Sunday Telegraph that her on-court performance had suffered in the aftermath of a breakup with Scott. The former world number 1 was asked today if Scott’s presence in the stands meant they were back together, she said, “It was really nice to see him there. Now we’re just happy, and that’s all that matters.”

She and Scott are not the only high-profile couple that cross the sporting divide between tennis and golf. US Open golf champion Rory McIlroy and world No.1 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki recently confirmed they were an item.
